A little jealous

When you feel envious or a little jealous, you don’t have to blame yourself first

A friend’s promotion, a trip, someone being loved well: your thumb pauses on the post. You tap like, but inside something stings. Why do the good things always land on other people? Then another voice shows up, scolding you for being petty, for not even managing to be happy for them.

Jealousy often points at something you want too

You feel envious when someone else is holding something you care about: being recognised, being chosen, being treated well. That sting doesn’t make you a bad person, and it doesn’t mean you can’t stand to see others do well. It is quietly telling you that you want this too.

Set the sting down in the morning light

The Morning Room won’t compare you with anyone, and it won’t ask you to be generous right away. Put your phone a little further away and watch the window slowly brighten, or write “honestly, I’m envious” on a bedside note, then add one small thing you truly want for yourself, and fold it away so it stays only on your device. If comparing yourself with others often weighs on you and affects daily life, it may help to talk with someone you trust or a professional.

No account, no name, and you can leave whenever you like.
